VOLUNTEER REQUESTS - YES, NO, MAYBE?

How many volunteer requests have you received so far this fall? Generally, well…let’s see… there’s the Youth Football Coach, your child’s teachers - school and dance, the P.T.A., the school band, etc. These are all valid and needed service projects. So, how many requests have you accepted, declined, or said that you would think about?
Maybe, your best option is to consider the requests BEFORE making commitments.
Here are some ideas to ponder while you consider the requests:
Why would you be doing this service? Because of a guilty conscience? The hope that the teacher heaps special rewards upon your child?
When would you be expected to perform this service? Do you have the free time in your already jam-packed schedule?
Where will your service be performed? Will you already be at the event anyway? Is it a service you could do in your leisure time at home?
What skills are needed for this service? Will you have to take some kind of training? What personal enjoyment might you get from doing this service?
Who will you be working with? A reliable friend? An arrogant know-it-all who barks out orders for what you are expected to do?
In closing, please focus your time and talents at something you are good at and enjoy. Expect no reward except a good feeling deep down in your heart. Happy
