How is that summer camp going? I wanted to let you know I did ask my adult daughters about our summer camps at home when they were little. Both of the girls got big grins on their faces. Lisa said her favorite thing was doing science experiments. Natalie remembered the fun that she and the neighbor kids had when they made up their own summer camp. So…they gave the thumbs up and hope you and your kids are finding the summer activities enjoyable.
Nothing like freebies to put a spark in your summer. Here are some suggestions:
Go to the local library. Check out the story times for kids. Usually there is a craft to make following reading a story.
Some book stores and businesses also offer story time. For example, in the Louisville area, check out these places as they offer story time: Carmichael’s for Kids, 1313 Bardstown Rd., Readers Corner, 2044 Frankfort Avenue, Brilliant Sky Books and Toys, Shelbyville Road Plaza, Pottery Barn for Kids, Oxmoor Center.
Go to the local park or playground. Maybe pack a picnic lunch?
Go to outdoor concerts, movies, festivals.
If you are interested in visiting an attraction in your area, such as the zoo or museum, check to see if they offer certain day of the month for free or have some special deal.
In the Louisville area, go to Henry’s Ark, Rose Island Road, Prospect, KY. Lots of animals, take something to feed animals.
Go to restaurants when they offer the “kids eat free night with a paying adult.”
Go on a nature walk, bird walk.
Here are some interesting websites that I found when searching for freebies:
